Voltage Modular 2.9.2 (Updated July 1)

Post by cherryaudio Robert »

Voltage Modular 2.9.2 is now available, featuring speed and multi-threading improvements, and fixes for several bugs as detailed in the release notes. The update is available for all versions of VM: Voltage Modular Core + Electro Drums, Voltage Modular Ignite, and the free Voltage Modular Nucleus. (release notes)

Voltage Module Designer has also been updated with speed improvements, some new functions, and bug fixes. (release notes)

The Voltage Modular update can be installed using the Sync product manager. The updates for both VM and VMD can be downloaded directly from the Cherry Audio Product Downloads page: https://cherryaudio.com/products/downloads

IMPORTANT EDIT July 1st:

Based on additional testing, we have determined that the updates for Voltage Modular and Voltage Module Designer can no longer be supported on macOS versions prior to 11.

Voltage Modular 2.9.2 includes an update to the version of Java (version 22) in Voltage Modular and VMD to take advantage of new speed and multithreading enhancements. Unfortunately, Java 22 is compatible only with macOS 11 (Big Sur) and above. As a result, we have chosen to raise the system requirements for Voltage Modular and VMD to reflect that, and macOS 10.x (no longer supported by Apple) is no longer eligible for further Voltage Modular updates.

macOS 10.x users may be prompted by the software or by the Sync product manager that there is an update available, but this update will not install on the older OS.

If you are on macOS 10 and need to rollback to 2.7.0, see the Support article here:

How to roll back to Voltage Modular 2.7.0 on Mac

Voltage Modular 2.7.0 will continue to run on these legacy systems, but we will no longer be able to update it.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause and the confusion that came up over the past few days. This is the latest chapter in the challenge of keeping Voltage Modular a viable (and improving!) product on macOS, and we appreciate the patience of the VM user community.
