I gotta second the Andrew Macaulay ultimate bundle - the reason that I love modular is because control voltage is so F'g awesome to work with. You can add it, subtract it, split it, merge it - and all these things add timbre to your modulation and melody. Can't do much of that with MIDI at all. AM's UB is all about CV manipulation - tons of utilities that do all kinds of delightful things. Doesn't sound sexy, but if you like modular, then it's because you like control voltage. otherwise, you might as well work in a DAW.
